Forbes has included Sentry Insurance on its first-ever list of America’s Best Employers for Women and, for a second consecutive year, on its list of Best Midsized Employers. Sentry also climbed Fortune’s annual rankings of the nation’s largest companies. This year, the national magazine ranks Sentry No. 694 on its Fortune 1000 list, up 26 spots from 2017.
Forbes, an industry-leading global media company, based both rankings on independent survey data.
“As a Sentry associate, I’m proud we’ve received these honors,” said Jayne Petruska, chief human resources officer at Sentry. “I’ve experienced how Sentry creates opportunities for associates to develop personally and professionally. We work hard to promote a family-friendly, community-oriented culture.”
Pete McPartland, Sentry’s chairman of the board, president, and CEO, recognizes Sentry’s most important asset is its people.
“We’re very pleased to be included on Forbes lists of best employers,” McPartland said. “This recognition affirms what we’ve long believed—that Sentry is one of the best places to work in America. At Sentry, we value all our associates and the work they do.”
Fortune bases its rankings on total revenues—Sentry’s topped $3.3 billion last year. The mutual insurance company, with national headquarters in Stevens Point, Wisconsin, has climbed 105 spots since 2015. It’s one of 23 Wisconsin-based companies on the Fortune 1000 list.
Your business. Your employees. Your peace of mind. At Sentry, we understand what matters most to you. Because we’ve been there ourselves. We got our start in 1904, when members of the Wisconsin Retail Hardware Association formed their own insurance company. Establishing the company gave members the strength of numbers, but it was the true strength of personalized care and Midwest roots that became hallmarks of the Sentry name.
Today, we’ve grown to become one of the largest and most financially secure mutual insurance companies in the nation by never forgetting where we came from. Or why. Perhaps that’s why many of about one million customers have been with us for decades.
And we can be there for you. Our Stevens Point headquarters is the flagship of an operation supported by claims offices strategically located throughout the United States. With more than $17.3 billion in assets, more than $5.1 billion in policyholder surplus**, and an A+ (superior) rating from A.M. Best*, the industry’s leading rating authority, we continue to provide peace of mind.*
